Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures Courses
The TDI Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures courses are designed to take divers beyond recreational limits by introducing the use of enriched air nitrox mixtures up to 100% oxygen and the skills required to conduct staged decompression dives. These courses focus on advanced dive planning, gas management, equipment configuration, and emergency procedures—building a strong foundation for deeper, longer, and more technical dives.
The course will be done with a mixture of cenote diving at sites like Chikin Ha and Yaakun just 20 minutes south of Playa del Carmen and ocean diving on the local reefs, providing ideal training conditions in stunning environments.
Course Topics Include:
Use of nitrox mixtures from EAN21 to 100% oxygen
Dive planning for staged decompression dives
Oxygen exposure tracking and limits (OTU and CNS)
Equipment configuration for technical diving
Proper buoyancy, trim, and propulsion for overhead or deep environments
Gas switching procedures and decompression gas management
Decompression theory and use of planning software
Emergency procedures and team protocols for deco dives
Course Structure:
Academic Sessions: Covering advanced dive theory, oxygen physiology, gas planning, and decompression strategies
Confined Water Training: Focused on equipment configuration, gas switches, and foundational skills in a controlled environment
Open Water Dives: Typically 6 dives with staged decompression, emphasizing precision, discipline, and effective team diving
Prerequisites:
Minimum age: 18 years old
Minimum certification: TDI Intro to Tech, TDI Sidemount or equivalent
Minimum of 50 logged dives
Certification Outcome:
Upon successful completion, divers will be certified to use nitrox mixes up to 100% oxygen and conduct staged decompression dives to a maximum depth of 45 meters/150 feet. These courses are essential for anyone looking to advance further into technical diving such as Extended Range and Trimix.
